Few posters on this board show a stage production and a farm scene at once, and this one does both. It advertises a Los Angeles staging of *Triple-A Plowed Under*, a Federal theater Project "Living Newspaper" drama about the Agricultural Adjustment Act of 1933, whose crop-reduction program paid farmers to plow under part of their cotton, wheat, and other crops to raise prices during the Depression. The play, by Arthur Arent, used short scenes, projections, and dialogue drawn from news reports to explain a policy that many audiences found confusing. The silkscreen was printed by the Federal Art Project in California, one of the Works Progress Administration's arts programs.
