Dripping Springs is a seep-fed spot in the Grand Canyon country of northern Arizona, where water slipping from the canyon wall offers a rare green accent against the bare red and buff rock. The photograph is attributed to William Henry Jackson, a surveyor and photographer known for his western landscape work from the 1870s onward, and it was issued under the Detroit Publishing Company's copyright. The record gives a date of about 1908, though that comes from the caption card and has not been independently verified. The print shows how early tourists and publishers presented the canyon as a destination of scale and grandeur.
