The slogan "Your country needs you" is best known from a 1914 British recruiting poster that paired Lord Kitchener's stern, pointing figure with those words. The design first appeared on the cover of the magazine *London Opinion* before the army adopted it. Posters like this helped drive enlistment in the war's early years, when governments on both sides of the Atlantic relied on appeals to personal duty to fill their ranks. What stands out is how directly the image addresses the viewer, turning a national call into a personal one.
