Unlike the many illustrated recruiting posters of the period, this one carries no figures or scenes, only a blunt message in large type: "Men, to delay is dangerous when your country needs you. Enlist now." A small Union Jack above the text is its only graphic element. Issued in 1915 by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee, it belongs to Britain's effort to raise volunteers before conscription began in 1916. The London lithographer Roberts & Leete printed it, and its plain wording shows how the government pressed men to act quickly.
