Two sitters, identified only as Mrs. N.E. Nuber and Norma, appear on this glass negative, which the record dates to about 1920. The library notes that the title comes from data the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve and has not been verified, so the names are best treated as provisional. The National Photo Company worked in Washington, D.C., and its glass negatives now form a major part of the Library of Congress holdings, documenting people and city life in the early twentieth century. The streaks and blemishes on the plate come from natural deterioration of its original coatings, a common condition in negatives of this age.
