The Eleventh Cincinnati Industrial Exposition, held in 1883, is the subject of this color poster, printed by the Krebs Lithographing Company of Cincinnati. Industrial expositions of this era were large public fairs where local manufacturers and merchants showed their goods, and they drew crowds from across the region. Chromolithography, the multicolor printing process used here, was then the standard way to make eye-catching advertising posters, and the Krebs firm was one of the city's active producers of such work. The copyright notation on the print reflects the period's practice of registering commercial artwork.
