A visit by a committee to Warren G. Harding is what sets this glass negative apart. It is dated June 22, 1920, about ten days after the Republican National Convention in Chicago chose Harding as its presidential nominee. Delegations of this kind were common during that campaign, when Harding received many visitors at his home in Marion, Ohio. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., studio active in the early twentieth century, made the plate, and its surviving glass negatives often show streaks and blemishes where the original coating has deteriorated with age.
