This glass negative, labeled the Harding Cabinet group, dates to between 1920 and 1921, the stretch between Warren G. Harding's election in November 1920 and his inauguration in March 1921. The National Photo Company, a Washington studio that made many official portraits of the period, produced group sittings like this one for officials. The title comes from the studio's own notes and has not been independently verified, so the identities of the men in the frame are worth checking. Streaks and other blemishes on the glass come from the natural deterioration of the original coating, and they are part of what the plate looks like today.
