Bushkill Falls, the cascade the title names, sits in the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania, a short distance from the Delaware Water Gap that anchors this part of the gallery. The falls drop through a steep, wooded glen, and by the late 1800s they had become a popular stop for visitors touring the region's scenery. Images like this one helped draw travelers to the area, which later developed into a well-known park with trails, footbridges and overlooks. Look closely at the rock ledges and the way the water breaks over them, since that is the feature that gave the site its reputation.
