Ouchy is the lakeside district of Lausanne, not Geneva itself, and this print shows the Hôtel du Château d'Ouchy on its shore. The hotel stood near an older castle, and it served the steady stream of travelers who visited Lake Geneva in the late 1800s. The print was made by the photochrom process, a Swiss method that combined several colored lithographic stones over a photograph, and it appeared in the Detroit Publishing Company's 1905 catalog of Swiss views. Notice how the process gives the lake and hotel facade soft, almost painted color.
