A man named Davis is the subject of this 1924 glass negative, titled "Davis at circus," though the record does not say which circus or who Davis was. The title comes from unverified notes on the negative or its sleeve, probably written by the National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., commercial studio that documented local people, events and street life from the early 1900s into the 1930s. Herbert A. French gave the plate to the Library of Congress in 1947. Expect streaks and blemishes, the natural result of the emulsion deteriorating on glass over several decades.
