A man named Davis appears in this circus scene, though that title comes from unverified notes the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve, so his full identity is uncertain. The Washington, D.C., studio produced a large body of glass negatives in the early twentieth century, recording people, parades, and public events. The date of about 1924 is estimated from other negatives in the same range. Glass plates like this one often show streaks and clouding as the original coating deteriorates, so the image may look softer than it did when first made.
