A long, narrow panorama dated April 19, 1893, records the Library of Congress while its main building was still rising on Capitol Hill. Work on the Thomas Jefferson Building had begun in 1890, and the library, then housed in the Capitol, was moving toward its own home across the street. The cyanotype process, a cheap, blue-toned method related to blueprints, was often used to make construction records like this one. The print is useful for seeing the site's scale and progress at a specific moment in the building's long construction.
