A Copenhagen printing house produced this color poster for Charlie Chaplin's *Modern Times*, which the record dates to about 1954, nearly two decades after the film's 1936 release. Chaplin wrote, directed and starred in the picture, which satirized mechanized factory work during the Depression through his Tramp character's struggles on an assembly line. The film blends silent-era pantomime with a synchronized score and recorded sound effects, and it was among the last features to star the Tramp. A Danish poster for it shows how widely Chaplin's films circulated abroad.
