The title on this poster, *Private Number*, points to the telephone, a subject the record lists alongside its two stars, Loretta Young and Robert Taylor. The film was a 1936 romantic drama, and Young and Taylor were both rising young performers at the time, still early in careers that would run for decades. Its color lithographic design reflects how studios marketed films in the 1930s, when posters like this one were displayed in theater lobbies and on street boards to draw audiences. The telephone in the title would have been a common household object in that decade, so the poster's focus on it also says something about the period's everyday life.
