Few posters from this period are printed in color at this scale, and this one pairs two performers from the stage and screen: Herbert Marshall, the British-born actor, and Anne Shirley, then a teenager working in Hollywood. The title, *Make Way for a Lady*, matches the 1936 RKO comedy-drama in which the two appeared. Studios of the mid-1930s relied on colorful one-sheets like this to pull audiences into theaters, and the small, undated printing suggests it was issued for local exhibitors.
