Few wartime posters ask the public to buy a dog, but this 1915 British color lithograph does just that, urging buyers to purchase a bulldog on June 16 to make the country's soldiers and sailors more comfortable. The bulldog was a familiar emblem of British determination, and mascot sales like this one were among the ways home-front groups raised money for the troops. The poster's subjects also include military uniforms and hats, which point to the men the fund was meant to support. The PCS monogram in the title identifies the club behind the appeal.
