This color lithograph is a French-language recruiting poster from Montreal, urging French Canadians to join the 150th Battalion. Its central image sets a Gallic rooster against a Prussian eagle, a common wartime allegory of France's struggle with Germany. Printed around 1915, the poster reflects the effort to draw French-speaking Quebecers into a Canadian force that was often framed in English. Recruiting appeals of this kind relied on language, national pride and the rooster emblem to reach audiences that were less moved by British imperial appeals.
