A front view of the 1938 Studebaker President, this print comes from the papers of industrial designer Raymond Loewy, whose firm restyled Studebaker's cars in the later 1930s. The President was the company's top-line model, and Loewy's work gave Studebaker a smoother, more unified look that broke from the boxier designs of the early decade. The record does not name the photographer or the setting, and the papers were not yet processed when it was catalogued, so the photograph is best read as a record of the designer's work for the company.
