The title leads with the Adelphi theater, the Strand house known for melodrama, and with Sutton Vane, the English playwright who wrote *The Cotton King*. William A. Brady, the American producer who later became a major Broadway figure, managed the American production, and the Strobridge Lithograph Company of Cincinnati and New York printed this color poster in 1894. Its caption, "What does this mean?", is a teasing question that invites the viewer to come see the show.
