Few amusements at Coney Island had a name as lively as the Razzle Dazzle, a ride on the Brooklyn shore's crowded midway. The glass negative comes from the George Grantham Bain Collection, the work of the Bain News Service, a press photography agency that supplied pictures to New York newspapers in the early twentieth century. The record gives no exact date, and its title comes from unverified caption data, so the scene is best read as a snapshot of the resort's busy amusement years. In that period Coney Island was among the country's best-known seaside playgrounds, drawing large crowds from the city.
