The painted words "Temptations of St. Anthony" on the front of the building set this view apart from other Coney Island scenes, and the title places it in the Air Ship Building at Dreamland Park. Dreamland opened in 1904 as one of the resort's most ambitious amusement parks, with white towers and electric lighting meant to suggest a fantasy city. Fire destroyed much of it in 1911. The Detroit Publishing Company, which produced this 8 x 10 inch glass negative, documented American towns, resorts and landmarks in the early twentieth century.
