Warsaw hosted the second congress of the International Confederation of Students in September 1924, and this chromolithograph was printed the same year to promote the gathering and Poland as its host. The confederation, a federation of national student organizations, had been founded in Prague in 1919, only a few years after Poland regained its independence in 1918, so the event carried weight as a sign of the young republic's place in international academic life. The poster's bold color and large format, about 100 by 80 centimeters, reflect the commercial lithographic style of 1920s Polish advertising. Its subject tag lists nudes, a reminder that figurative imagery was common in the decade's posters.
