The poster announces the fifth national rally of the Polish Falcons (Sokół) in Kraków on July 16 and 17, 1910, and it carries the rally's watchword, "Czuwaj!" ("Stay watchful"). Its central image of armored knights and a ceremonial knighting draws on the Polish past to make a patriotic point. Kraków was then in Austrian-ruled Galicia, and Poland did not exist as an independent state, so gatherings like this carried national meaning. The painting is by Jan Styka, and the chromolithograph was printed in Kraków by K. Kranikowski's lithography firm.
