This chromolithograph advertises the "Linja Palestyńska," or Palestine Line, of the Gdynia-America Shipping Lines, with a steamship and a camel pictured together to suggest the voyage to the eastern Mediterranean. Gdynia, a port the Polish state built from a fishing village after 1920, was the country's window to the sea, and its shipping companies used posters like this one to win passengers and cargo for routes beyond Europe. The design was printed in Warsaw in 1935 by the firm of B. Wiersbicki, and it reflects the bright commercial lithography of the interwar years.
