This 1921 poster, printed in Warsaw by the lithography firm of W. Główczewski, advertises an exhibition of Polish art under the name of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, a French society. Its color chromolithograph shows a horseback rider and a bouquet of flowers, pairing a sporting image with a still-life motif. The poster appeared just a few years after Poland regained independence in 1918, when the young republic was keen to present its cultural life to foreign audiences. Its promotional aim, to show the country as a modern and artistic nation, is clear in its bright, decorative design.
