Addressed to "Obrero!" (Worker!), this Valencia lithograph urges laborers to join the Columna de Hierro, or Iron Column, and "strengthen the revolution." The column was one of the militia units raised by anarchist and syndicalist workers in the early months of the Spanish Civil War, and the poster asks civilians to enlist in the Republican cause. Printed by Gráficas Valencia and bearing the UGT and CNT imprint, it shows how the two major labor federations mobilized their members. Its bold color and direct wording were typical of the propaganda that circulated on the Republican side between 1936 and 1939.
