A Valencia lithograph from the early war years calls the radio receiver "the voice of culture in the worker's home" and urges viewers to respect the set and encourage its acquisition. Its imprint names the national propaganda and press delegation of the C.E.P., the Valencia-based committee that issued many Republican posters in 1936 and 1937. Radio was still a costly household item in Spain in the 1930s, so the appeal treats owning a set as a civic and educational good, not a luxury. The poster is one of many Republican designs that used broadcasting to promote literacy, news, and shared community listening during the Civil War.
