The title marks the anniversary the fair was built to celebrate: 1833 to 1933, the century since Chicago was incorporated as a town. Printed in Chicago in 1933 by the Goes Litho Company, this color poster was a public relations piece meant to draw visitors to the Century of Progress International Exposition during its first season on the lakefront. American posters of the 1930s often combined bold lettering with streamlined imagery to suggest faith in science and industry, a mood that made the fair's exhibits of new technology stand out during the Great Depression.
