A railroad's name leads this poster, placing Rock Island's service at the center of a promotion for the Century of Progress International Exposition on Chicago's lakefront. The fair ran in 1933 and 1934 to mark a century since the city's founding, and its modern exhibition buildings drew visitors from across the country, which made travel companies eager to advertise their routes to it. Neely Printing Company of Chicago produced the piece as a silkscreen, a method that suited the bold, flat color needed for posters meant to catch the eye in station waiting rooms and travel offices.
