Twisted Sierra junipers rooted in the granite of the Upper Merced Basin anchor this view of Yosemite Valley's high country. The photograph belongs to a portfolio of High Sierra prints made in the early 1920s, when Yosemite was drawing growing numbers of visitors and photographers eager to show its wilder reaches beyond the valley floor.
