The Elsinore Tower gate marks an entrance to Eden Park, the hilltop green space above the Ohio River on Cincinnati's east side. The Detroit Publishing Company made this 8 by 10 inch glass negative around 1900 to 1910 as part of its large body of views of American towns, parks and scenic sites, which it sold as photographs and printed postcards. Pictures like this one show how turn-of-the-century city parks were built with ornamental gateways and winding drives for carriages and early automobiles.
