Entering Eden Park from the city's streets, visitors in the early 1900s would have passed under or over a bridge and along streetcar tracks, which the record's subject tags for bridges and street railroads point to. Eden Park occupies a hilltop on Cincinnati's east side and was developed as a public park in the 19th century, with views over the Ohio River valley. The Detroit Publishing Company, a commercial firm known for its large views of American towns and landscapes, made this glass-plate negative around 1906. Its 8 by 10 inch size reflects the large-format cameras photographers often used for such scenes.
