Sol Smith Russell's comedy drama *A Poor Relation* is the subject of this 1901 color lithograph poster, printed by the Strobridge Litho. Company of Cincinnati and New York. Russell was a popular American actor known for gentle, homespun characters, and he was touring in the years before his death in 1902. Strobridge was one of the leading firms producing theatrical posters at the time, and its large, brightly colored sheets advertised touring productions to small-town and city audiences alike.
