Peter F. Dailey is the star here, and the poster's large color lithograph, printed by the Strobridge Litho. Co. of Cincinnati and New York in 1900, puts him front and center in a musical comedy called Hodge Podge & Co. The show was adapted from a German original by George V. Hobart, with lyrics by Walter H. Ford and music by John W. Bratton, and its producer, Frank McKee, promoted it heavily. Dailey was a popular comic performer of the period, and the tall, narrow format of the sheet, with its photographic portrait drawn from an Elmer Chickering image, was typical of the touring theatrical posters of the era.
