A bird's-eye view sets this scene apart, showing the statue on Bedloe's Island with fireworks bursting over the harbor. Charles Graham drew it, and the wood engraving ran in *Harper's Weekly* on November 6, 1886, about a week after the statue was dedicated on October 28. The French gift, designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, was marked with festivities that turned the harbor into a spectacle, and the engraver had to render glow and smoke in black and white using dense lines.
