This color postcard takes its title, "At the Call of the Party," from a Soviet slogan that urged young people to answer the government's appeals for labor. The 1954 Virgin Lands campaign drew many thousands of young volunteers to plow and sow the steppe in Kazakhstan and Siberia, and posters and postcards like this one celebrated that effort. Printed in Moscow in 1957 by Izogiz, the state fine arts publisher, it reflects how Soviet propaganda linked youth, collective farm work and mechanized agriculture.
