Kukryniksy, the three-man team of Mikhail Kupriyanov, Porfiry Krylov, and Nikolai Sokolov, produced this 1930 color poster, whose slogan, "We will annihilate kulaks as a class," echoes the policy line of the period. In 1930 the Soviet leadership pushed rapid collectivization of agriculture, and it framed relatively prosperous peasants, the kulaks, as enemies to be removed. The poster is a useful record of how state propaganda presented collective farms and the peasantry to urban audiences, and it was printed in Moscow and Leningrad by the state publishing house.
