A 1938 silkscreen poster urging Ohioans to guard their state parks and the trees within them, the piece is a clear example of how conservation messages reached the public during the Depression. The Works Progress Administration's Federal Art Project produced many such posters, using the inexpensive silkscreen process to print bold, simple designs in large runs for schools, post offices, and public buildings. The poster was made by Morris Katz, and its date stamp of July 20, 1938, places it in the middle of the decade's push to preserve forests and parkland that New Deal programs were also helping to build and maintain.
