Titled simply *Washington*, this hand-colored lithograph honors George Washington, the Revolutionary commander and first president. It was published by N. Currier in New York between 1835 and 1856, when his firm was producing inexpensive prints for a growing middle-class market. Washington was one of the most frequently reproduced figures of the period, and his likeness, often colored by hand after printing, served as a patriotic emblem in homes and public spaces. The record offers little more about this particular sheet, but its listing in a catalog raisonné places it among the firm's documented output.
