Poster number 14 in its series, this color lithograph asks Britons to buy war loan and ties that personal investment directly to "our brave troops in the fighting line." The London printer McCorquodale & Co. produced it for the Parliamentary War Savings Committee, a body that promoted government borrowing to pay for the First World War. Britain financed much of its wartime spending through public loans as well as taxation, so posters like this one were a key part of the home front effort. Its message blends patriotism with a practical request to save and lend, a combination typical of wartime persuasion in Britain.
