Zeta Alpha House stood on the campus of Wellesley College, the women's college in Massachusetts founded in 1870, and this view was made on an 8 by 10 inch glass negative sometime between 1900 and 1910. The Detroit Publishing Company, which produced large numbers of American views in that period, made the image. The negative came to the Library of Congress as a gift from the State Historical Society of Colorado in 1949. It offers a useful record of how student social buildings were presented at the turn of the twentieth century.
