The city hall in Jacksonville, Florida, is the subject of this 8 by 10 inch glass negative, which the Detroit Publishing Company made sometime between 1902 and 1910. Those years followed the fire of 1901, which destroyed much of the city's downtown, so the building stood in a city busy with reconstruction. The Detroit Publishing Company, known for photographing American towns and landmarks for commercial sale, produced large negatives like this one to capture architectural detail. The negative's title and catalog markings show how it was identified and later donated to the State Historical Society of Colorado.
