The steamship *Iroquois*, a Clyde Line vessel, is shown tied up at a wharf in Jacksonville, Florida, where the St. Johns River met the city's busy waterfront. Clyde Line steamers carried passengers and freight along the Atlantic coast, and Jacksonville's piers were key links in that trade, which drew Northern visitors and shipped Florida goods such as lumber, citrus, and naval stores. The Detroit Publishing Company, which made this glass-plate negative around 1903, documented American towns and transportation for travel marketing of the period.
