Its title, *Pueblos de Levante!* ("Villages of the Levante"), names the towns of Spain's eastern Mediterranean coast, and its subject heading points to air operations in the Spanish Civil War. This color lithograph from 1937 belongs to the Library of Congress's Spanish Civil War poster holdings. Posters of this period often used bold, simplified imagery to rally civilians and soldiers during aerial attacks on towns and cities. The Levante, including the Valencia region, was among the areas that endured bombing as the war went on.
