Printed in Valencia by the municipal propaganda delegation, this color lithograph carries the name of Izquierda Republicana, a republican left party founded in 1934 and led by Manuel Azaña. Valencia remained in Republican hands throughout the Spanish Civil War and served as the seat of government from late 1936 into 1937. The catalog subjects list farmers, the Spanish flag, and criminals, a combination that suggests how wartime posters linked party politics to the defense of ordinary workers and the land while casting opponents as lawbreakers. The record dates the piece only to between 1936 and 1939, placing it within the war's early and middle years.
