Fred Snodgrass, an outfielder for the New York Giants, is the subject of this 1912 glass negative. He is best remembered for a dropped fly ball in the tenth inning of Game 10 of that year's World Series, a play that became known as "Snodgrass's Muff" and contributed to Boston's championship. The negative belongs to the George Grantham Bain Collection, made up of photographs from the Bain News Service, a commercial agency that supplied pictures of sports, politics and city life to newspapers of the period.
