This 1951 color lithograph for Trans-Canada Air Lines packs several stock images of Paris onto one sheet: the Eiffel Tower, a police officer, chorus girls, and a couple out together. Trans-Canada Air Lines, a government-owned carrier that became Air Canada in 1965, was promoting its routes as transatlantic air travel grew after the Second World War. The poster was printed in Canada by William J. Taylor, and its bright colors and lively scene show how the airline pitched Paris as a destination of glamour, romance and nightlife.
