Set at Sixth and M Streets Northwest, this glass negative records the Jefferson Hotel, a building in the city's northwest quadrant. The record dates it to roughly 1910 to 1920, when the National Photo Company was documenting Washington's streets and buildings for commercial use, including postcards and illustrated views for visitors. The glass has streaks and blemishes from deterioration of its original coatings, which can soften detail across the facade and street. The title comes from unverified data written on the negative sleeve, so the exact identification should be read with some caution.
