Printed in New York in 1897 by the H.C. Miner Litho. Company, this color lithograph advertised *Miss New York Jr.*, a spectacular burlesque. Miner's firm was one of the busiest theatrical poster shops of its day, turning out large, brightly colored sheets that could be pasted on walls and billboards to draw crowds to shows across the country. By the 1890s, burlesque had moved well beyond its earlier parody roots toward lavish musical productions with elaborate costumes, scenery, and large female choruses, and posters like this one helped sell that spectacle to the public.
